A Rose test to see if a lady's lover is true
Here is a test for young ladies to see if their lover, loves them true. The test requires two roses with long stems, one for the lady and one for her lover. A recommended rose for this test are American beauties. The lady must perform the rose test in solitude, preferably in their own room where they will kneel down, and fix their eyes on the rose they have chosen for their lover, and then begin to twine the stems of the two roses together while repeating the following verse aloud:
"Twine, twine and intertwine, Let my love be wholly thine. If his heart be kind and true, Deeper grow his rose's hue."
If the lady's lover loves her true, the rose should grow deeper in color.
